Birdbrain - Youth of America (SothD#2)

Birdbrain, originating from Boston, Mass is a post-grunge/grind-pop trio who released their debut album Bliss in 1995 through TVT records. The band is best known for their hit “Youth of America” which appeared in the movie Scream (during the party scene) and also made it onto the Film’s soundtrack as the intro song. Following the song's success the group released their second, and final attempt at music with the album Let’s be Nice. TVT records describes the albums sound as

“.1) Like the physchamelodic ear-candy of the British Invasion melted stickily over the comedic punk antics of the early Clash.
2) Like the screaming thoughts of the Pixies messily copulating Abba records on the altar of St. John?s Cathedral.
3) Like a suicide squad of manic-depressive Gibson SG?s fighting to the death for turf rights with flugelhorns, violas and bigger-than-your-mom meat hooks.
4) Uhhh..all of the above? (If you guessed 4, congratulations; you’re an astute purveyor of
sonics {and you’ve got quite a vocabulary, too!})”

I choose "Youth of America" as my Song of the Day for October 26, 2007. Sleepy, but in routine I woke up this morning and began shuffling through my mp3 playlist searching for a song that had “punch" and “wake-me-up" to get my day started. After a few clicks I thought "Hel-lo! Birdbrain!"
From the ear-wiggling intro, to the feed conclusion “Youth of America immediately had my head bopping, and pretty soon, my body dancing. Like a cup of fresh coffee this track has given me the jolt of energy I needed to go on with the day. God bless the youth, America!
