Last week on December 7, 2007 guitar manufacturing company, Gibson released the much-anticipated Gibson Robot Guitar. The Robot is a Les Paul-esque luxury guitar ran by lightweight microprocessors and motorized tuner knobs to automatically tune itself in accordance to the owner’s preference. The guitar features a push-pull LED Master Control Knob that is the dictator and mastermind of the guitar. When the Master Control Knob is set to “tune” you would simply strum the guitar once which signals the tune-control-bridge to adjust the pitch of the strings, the bridge then drives the Powerhead motorized knobs to adjust themselves accordingly to achieve the perfect tune for the guitar. The Master Control Knob features six pre-set tuning options such as Standard Open E, DADGAD, Drop D, Open G, Flat E and Double Drop D. Wait! There’s more! Not only does the Robot auto-tune itself, it will also assist with string changes and intonation. Robot will literally “walk” the player through the process with its LED lights. There really isn’t much brainwork or hassle required on the player’s end, as the Robot slogan goes “All you have to do is play!”
The First Edition Robot Guitar is currently being sold for an ERP of $2,499 in limited quantity at 400 retail locations.

First saw the promotional video a few months back and I was really blown away by it's complexity :D. I won't buy one though, I'm more old school and like my guitars raw and under my control. It's more pro this way too :D, you'll never see Slash or Jimmy Page playing robo les paul.
If they had a Robo-Bass and I still played regularly I would probably get one because I suck so bad at tuning. I can never get it right :(
